Portland is full of creative people. From the coffee roaster who has dedicated his life to roasting the perfect bean, to the industrial designer rethinking the way we write, the city embraces innovation. Flexibility and innovation go hand-in-hand, which is why many of Uber's driver-partners are also entrepreneurs and small business owners. To support the dreamers, creators, and craftsmen, Uber partnered with organizations across town to host events and help provide tools and support to the people who are their own boss while driving and pursuing their passions.

Each entrepreneur was featured on Uber's global Newsroom, Facebook page and emailed to riders who have taken at least 1 trip with one of these drivers.

Douglas is a self-proclaimed “grossly over trained” musical theater singer. He started singing at the age of 6 and has made a living traveling using his beautiful baritone voice to wow audiences around the world. He’s saving the money he makes driving with Uber to fund a vocal camp in Sweden he’s running later this year.

Having worked in the coffee industry for years, Tristan finally decided to take the next step and start roasting his own beans. NorthFresh Coffee Roasters offers affordable micro-roasted coffee. Starting the small business from scratch, he drives with Uber to save money for equipment and growing his business.

Jessica has a passion for industrial design. Her product, Wink Pens, are refillable glass fountain pens that are built to write with alternative inks such as wine, juice, or tea. As a the sole owner of this new business, she drives with Uber to network and make money to fund her innovative product.

If you’ve ever found yourself making an excuse to not get your daily workout, Workout Bunnies is for you. Samuel created this social networking fitness site that connects you to people in your area that want to workout. Samuel drives with Uber to make extra cash while building up his small business.
